Just before lockdown…

Just before lockdown...

Another cool email by one of our followers. Gary had to stop his session because of lockdown, but caught his target fully just in time 🙂 Here's what he emailed us:

Here is a few pics from my last session which ended the day the government declared lockdown. I was supposed to fish for 48hours but I only managed 16hours fishing in total. once I’d done my usual laps of the lake looking for the fish, I actually found the fish and video recorded them where I caught two of these fish from. The fully scaled mirror was a target fish as well so to see it film it and catch it was a huge achievement for me seeing as it doesn’t come out very often.

Italian carp on the fly!

Italian carp on the fly!

During Covid-19 quarantine we received a number of inspiring emails, proving carp fishing comes in many forms. Gotta love this one:

Hi Monkey Climber magazine,

i m jampa_fishing (instagram) and i have been practicing fly fishing for several years. in Italy the concept of alternative fly fishing is not developed therefore I am trying to spread it as much as possible through photos, videos and articles on my blog. I am attaching 3 photos from last year, with the hope of returning as soon as possible to walk along those canals.

Thank you!

Kind regards.

Gian Paolo

Keeping the Austrian Faith

Keeping the Austrian Faith

As you will know, the Monkey Climber force is strong in Austria. After visiting it as a tourist before, and twice for shows in recent years, we just love the country! If it wasn't for Covid-19 we would now have been fishing there...

The virus has hit Austria badly, especially in its skiing regions, but as it seems, the government is now trying to exit their lockdown gradually. Angling has been forbidden for a long time, but now just allowed again.

As we are getting a lot of pictures from several friends and faithkeepers over there, we've decided to put these little series of clicks on our Blog as short updates hoping to inspire people that are still under lockdown, just like ourselves.

Here's an update by our Austrian friend Markus Rabl, newschool guy but his pics have a proper oldschool touch we feel.

For those who can still smile tomorrow…

for those who can still smile tomorrow...

Lots of negativity going round these days, even more on social media. No wonder with the world and our modern day Western world standards at peril... For some of us the main concern seems that angling is temporarily not allowed in most countries, and as much as we would like to go out ourselves, we understand there's bigger things at stake.

That being said, our Dutch friend Tom de Maat is a bit more lucky than us. Angling is still allowed in Holland and Tom took solitary refuge to some sunny reedbeds and wild banks. Surely no Covid-19 danger there! As he often does, Tom sent a series of mega clicks in and as ever they put a big smile on our quarantined faces. Needless to say we decided to use these on our blog.

You see, there is always hope, my brethren...

Keep safe!

Polder Confessions

polder confessions

Enjoy!

Speero Tackle: a brandnew top quality UK brand coming to Europe too!

Speero tackle: the beginning of a new era

As many carp anglers or anglers will know, a carp-based brand doesn’t come out of the woodwork very often. Everyone likes their luggage to be functional and user friendly. Working alongside a couple of established brands in other outdoor sectors, plus many years’ experience has gone into the creation of our new luggage range. Two carp anglers, Dean and I (Ross) have been in the trade for a fair while. Wehave put together 35+ years trade experience and over 53 years of carp angling experience to good use. We have been working side by side designing products to be prototyped, adjusted and everything in between. Dean is a specialist when it comes to designing products having designed a fair few products in the past, where my field is more social media, advertising and photography based. Having worked together in the past we have both established a good working relationship.

You’re probably wondering where the name “Speero Tackle” came from? Well, the only way we can really put it is like this – we sat and went through many names over countless hours in the office with our directors and the name Speero had arisen. The other way we look at is if you take the name Apple for instance, no disrespect to the brand but what relevance does Apple have to technology?

Since the day we launched, we have certainly produced a few game changing products which have turned many heads. Our flagship products are our modular range which encompasses a few fair-sized items of luggage i.e. Modular Bait bag, Modular Carryall and Modular Rucksack. The modular items feature a buckle on each corner which allows you to attach one of our clip-on bags which are available in a cool and standard version.

In addition to the range, we also have a whole host of pouches and an ever-growing clothing line, from a waterproof suit to fleece wear for the colder months. We really recommend you look at the range on our website and see what you think, we really do have something for everyone. This is just the start for the brand, and we intend on doing everything we can to keep it moving forward.

Enjoy!!!

Not one but two Monkey Climber x CC Moore Ltd. ed. pop ups this year!

We guess a lot of you having been waiting for this little press release on the CC Moore Ltd. Ed. Collab pop ups we'll be launching at the Carp Zwolle show this year. And the good news is there will be not just one but two types available in the weekend of Jan 31st, Feb 1st & 2nd 2020. Built around an old school classic flavour, Whiskey that is, we tested no less than eight samples and these two came out equally best: Whiskey Tangerine and Whiskey Hazelnut. Once you've touched them you can't get the smell of your fingers 🙂

Available in 15 mm only, Whiskey Tangerine in orange, Whiskey Hazelnut in white. Highly buoyant, as ever with CC Moore pop ups. Only limited numbers available and only at the show (in the unlikely case remaining tubs will go on our Bigcartel). Damage 8,99 euros/tub.
