The first time I saw Monkey Climber magazine was when Gio contacted me about possibly doing some artwork for him. Gio told me all about the idea(l)s behind the magazine and explained he was looking for an old school portrait of Rod Hutchinson to be drawn for the start of MC#3’s wH2o’s wH2o interview with Hutch. Myself and Gio share the same passion for Art and Carp fishing so we both had the same ideas on how the artwork should look.

When Gio asked me to help him out with the cover of MC#5, I was more than excited when I knew what he had in mind. A bit of research and a little bit of help from Gaz Hood at Carpworld and Chris Ball, who actually photographed the image of Jack Hilton I used as ref at Redmire in June 1970, I started working on the portrait of Jack with a stunning Redmire Common. Sending progress photos to Gio along the way so he could keep up to date with how I was getting on.

I’d just like to say a big thank you to Gio for the opportunity and also to Eve for making the front cover look amazing!
